Green Carpet Fashion Awards 2020: discover the green edition of the Red Carpet between fashion, augmented reality and sustainability.

The Green Carpet Fashion Awards 2020, a very important event for the entire fashion world with a special focus on sustainability took place in Milan, Italy on 10 October and broadcast on the main platforms.

Let’s find out:

What Are The Green Carpet Fashion Awards

On September 24, 2017, the first Green Carpet Fashion Awards kicked off at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, on the occasion of the Milano Moda Donna event.

The main objective of the event is to reward brands that stand out for the use of ethical and eco-sustainable codes in their creation and production criteria.

Each of the 5 Awards represents a fundamental value for the start of a new era.

In order to participate, stylists and designers must align themselves with ten guiding criteria that outline the levels of eco-sustainability through which they operate.

The awards at this event involve not only designers but also those who work in the manufacturing industry linked to fashion.

Green Carpet Fashion Awards 2020 Edition

This year’s edition was promoted by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion (CNMI) in collaboration with Eco-Age and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the ICE Agency.

Given the current situation, the Green Carpet Fashion Awards 2020 was held in digital format.

La Scala in Milan (Italy), the historic site of the event, was dressed in flowers and plants for the occasion.

A digital terrarium capable of hosting an event focused on togetherness and rebirth – to weave the new thread of our society, under the principles of social and environmental justice, starting from Italy.

The evening was directed by Emmy nominee Giorgio Testi. Produced by Emmy Award-winning Pulse Film, the executive production was handled by Tendercapital Productions.

Fashion, but also digital!

North House Studio curated special effects, combining cinematic footage with a fusion of augmented reality and special effects.

Obviously, the great celebrities and international opinion leaders could not miss that were able to make their appearance through holographic telepresence, courtesy of ARHT Media.

The event was also an occasion to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Italy. Shanghai fashion week, in fact, hosted a special world preview of the ceremony.

Instead of the classic red carpet, two weeks before the event, the work done by stylists, artisans and individuals to create and promote sustainability in fashion was shared on the web.

The celebrities showed off their precious and exclusive garments and outfits through various social platforms. It was also an opportunity to launch a call for action that encourages everyone to take an active role in sustainable fashion.

“The winner of this year’s edition not only has long been leading the charge to increase both inclusivity and diversity in fashion, but she has persevered in how she can personally make a difference in the industry, using her platform as an actress and as a creative, to open doors and give a voice to those who otherwise would not be able to showcase their talent.”

Responsible Disruption Award – Progetto Quid

“Progetto Quid designs, produces and distributes fashion collections made of first quality end-of-line fabric, offering career opportunities to those who would otherwise struggle on the job market, especially to women. In just over seven years, they now employ 142 people of which 70% are vulnerable women.”

Best Independent Designer Award – Sindiso Khumalo

Art of Craftmanship Award – Italian Artisans

“The handprint of fashion, all the thousands of Italian artisans who, in so many ways, make up the fabric of this country. Artisans across this country continue to offer us insight into a more viable path forward.
